BBC Casualty viewers warn ‘they better not’ as fans ‘work out’ death twist

BBC Casualty returns after a two-week break with dramatic scenes set to unfold on Saturday night

Casualty enthusiasts have reason to celebrate as the beloved BBC series makes its long-awaited return to television screens.

The popular medical drama had been absent from the broadcaster’s schedule for a fortnight, with Big Night of Musicals by the National Lottery filling one slot and the FA Cup occupying the other.

As the mini-series Learning Curve progresses with just two episodes remaining, viewers will be treated to the 11th instalment, with a synopsis hinting at turbulent times ahead.

It reads: “As the ED faces a make-or-break CQC inspection, can Kim keep her secret, or will she spiral out of control? And will Siobhan’s search for answers lead her to the truth?”

Throughout this series, viewers have followed the harrowing storyline surrounding Siobhan McKenzie (played by Melanie Hill) after she disclosed to her colleagues that she had been raped, reports the Mirror.

Upon discovering the address of Siobhan’s attacker, Cam Mickelthwaite (Barney Walsh) attempted to confront the individual, though the situation rapidly deteriorated.

The man assaulted Cam, leaving him requiring hospitalisation and surgery following a head injury.

Subsequently, her attacker, Chris Banfield (Cai Brigden), was taken into custody after harming Cam, while a newly released trailer depicts Siobhan confronting her rapist.

The footage shows her visiting Chris behind bars as she screams: “Say it! Say what you did to me!”

Despite this, he continues to deny raping Siobhan, insisting to police that her DNA was present on him solely because she had treated him at the hospital.

Viewers are, however, fearful that Chris’ actions could prove fatal, with many convinced that Cam may not survive his injuries.

This follows the BBC soap’s release of a trailer for the current series, which included a harrowing funeral scene leaving many of the much-loved staff members visibly distressed.

Although the identity of the deceased has yet to be disclosed, fans are convinced it is Cam who ultimately succumbs to his head injury.

One viewer posted online: “Please don’t let Cam die.” Another wrote: “They better not kill Cam!”

A third commented: “So, guessing it’s Cam’s funeral, he’ll go after the attacker and come off worse.”

Other fans, however, have proposed that the tragic death set to unfold could belong to newcomer Kim Chang (Jasmine Bayes).

Casualty airs on BBC One on Saturday 11 at 8:45pm
