Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley), Sam Dingle (James Hooton), and Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) all also appear regularly. However, we have also sadly said goodbye to several Dingle members, including Lisa (Jane Cox), and more recently, Zak (Steve Halliwell).

And in 2024, Belle introduced another member to the clan, a dog called Piper. The pup was featured heavily in the harrowing domestic abuse storyline involving Belle and evil husband Tom King (James Chase).

Belle was smitten with Piper, but Tom grew jealous and used the dog as a pawn in his sick manipulation. As well as hitting Piper with his car, Tom even tricked Belle into believing her pet had died as part of a devious scheme.

He even orchestrated a fake funeral while Belle grieved for the dog. However, in reality Tom – who was later sent to prison for his crimes – had rehomed Piper.

Fortunately, Belle was reunited with her dog on Christmas Day 2024 much to the delight of viewers. However, recently, fans have noticed that Piper hasn’t been seen for a while, and fear the dog might have been killed off.

“Whatever happened to Belle’s little dog Piper?” mused one person on an Emmerdale Facebook fan page. Someone else added: “Oh yes forgot about that cute little dog wonder where it’s gone.”

A third wrote: “Oh yeah, has it died?” Another person penned: “Good question. We never see her, even in the mornings up at the Dingles house.”

Meanwhile in 2024, Minnie, who plays Piper, was awarded the first-ever prize for Best Pet at the Inside Soap Awards. Speaking at the event, her owners discussed filming the violent scenes on the soap.

“I cried. I cried watching them even though I was there when they were being filmed. So I know she was never under any stress but their editing work was amazing. The editing is incredible,” they said.
