STOP EVERYTHING! A CORONATION STREET STAR JUST OFFICIALLY RULED OUT A MAJOR MURDER SUSPECT BEFORE THE D.E.A.D.L.Y WEEK BEGINS!

Coronation Street star Sue Devaney has insisted that her character Debbie Webster won’t turn murderous in next week’s episodes. Fans are on the lookout for clues following the revelation that one of five characters – Carl Webster, Jodie Ramsey, Maggie Driscoll, Megan Walsh and Theo Silverton – will soon be killed off.

None of the five are winning many friends in Weatherfield, so there’s no shortage of possible killers in the dark storyline. But Sue reckons Debbie won’t be tempted to lash out at her own son…

“Debbie is not capable of killing anybody,” explained Sue, in an exclusive chat with Digital Spy on set. “I mean, she might do by accident, you know! She just slips some arsenic into somebody’s dinner or something!

“But no, she wouldn’t be capable of killing anybody. She’d do it with her words. She’d destroy somebody with language.”

Asked how Debbie would react if Kevin or Ronnie got rid of Carl, she continued: “Oh, Debbie would be in uproar. She’d probably never, ever speak to them again. And I think: ‘Would they be capable of doing that?’ I don’t know.

“You never know because sometimes you can just flip – it just depends on your state of mind.

“Accidents can happen. I mean, if it was an accident and Ronnie came back and said, ‘I accidentally pushed Carl over the top of a cliff, I’m really sorry!’, maybe Debbie then would go ‘Oh it was an accident, it’s fine’. I don’t know!”

While Debbie doesn’t have murder in mind, she is starting to lose patience with Carl’s games and recently paid him off to leave Weatherfield for good.

“I think she’s had enough,” confirmed Sue. “It’s for her own peace of mind. I think he was causing her a lot of pain and causing people around her a lot of pain.

“So I think she just thought: ‘Do you know what? You’re going to have to go because I can’t cope with this anymore. I can’t cope with the lies, I can’t cope with the betrayal. And you haven’t been in my life for a long time, so it’s probably best that you leave it now’.”

While the outcome of next week’s episodes remains a closely-guarded secret, Sue would be gutted if Debbie and Carl’s connection were to be cut short.

Asked whether part of her would like to see Carl stay, she admitted: “Well it’s not part of me, it’s all of me really! All of me wants Carl there. All of Debbie wants Carl there, till Debbie goes.

“She’s put in her will that she wants him to carry her coffin, so hopefully. But who knows? We don’t know, do we?”
