The smoking gun to finally take down Emmerdale’s Joe Tate confirmed
Fans of Emmerdale are witnessing the slow but explosive downfall of Joe Tate — and this time, Dawn Taylor is the one holding all the power.
In scenes from the May 6 episode, currently available early on ITVX and YouTube ahead of its ITV1 broadcast, Dawn officially sets the wheels in motion for a calculated revenge scheme that could leave Joe with absolutely nothing.
And the most dangerous part? Joe has no idea it’s happening.
Dawn Finally Sees The Truth About Joe

For months, Joe Tate has manipulated nearly everyone around him, but Dawn (Olivia Bromley) is no longer blinded by his charm.
The turning point came after she discovered hidden footage Joe had recorded involving Victoria Sugden and the aftermath of John Sugden’s murder cover-up. Although Joe managed to talk his way out of immediate suspicion, the cracks in his lies had already started to show.
Things escalated further when Moira Dingle revealed Joe’s involvement in framing her and also exposed his role in cutting down Holly Barton’s memorial tree — something Joe had previously denied directly to Dawn.
That betrayal hit hard.
Earlier this year, Dawn warned Joe that if she ever found out he was responsible for destroying the tree, their relationship would never survive it. Now armed with the truth, she’s no longer thinking about forgiveness.
She wants revenge.
Cain Wants Joe Destroyed — But Moira Has A Smarter Plan
After confronting the reality of Joe’s deception, Dawn turned to Moira and Cain Dingle for advice.
Cain, unsurprisingly, suggested getting rid of Joe permanently. However, Moira proposed something far more devastating: take away everything Joe values and leave him completely alone.
For Dawn — now pregnant and emotionally exhausted by Joe’s manipulation — the idea immediately struck a nerve.
Rather than exposing him outright, Dawn has decided to play the long game.
Dawn’s Double Life At Home Farm
Since making her decision, Dawn has been putting on a convincing performance at Home Farm, pretending everything in her relationship is perfectly normal.
There have already been close calls.
At one point, her disgust toward Joe nearly slipped through, but she quickly disguised it as pregnancy-related sickness. Still, keeping up the act is becoming increasingly difficult, especially as Joe continues openly attacking the Dingle family in front of her.
Realizing she was becoming emotionally overwhelmed, Dawn secretly met with Moira again to regroup and strengthen the plan.
That conversation led directly to their first major move against Joe.
The Take A Vow Trap Begins
Back at Home Farm, Joe interrupted an argument between Dawn and Belle Dingle over Take a Vow.
Sensing an opportunity, Dawn carefully manipulated the conversation, complaining about tensions with Belle and casually suggesting life would be easier if she owned the business outright.
Joe immediately offered to buy the company for her.
While Dawn acted surprised, she intentionally avoided rejecting the idea — exactly as planned.
Later, she met with Belle and Moira at Wishing Well and confirmed the shocking update: Joe’s money would soon be transferred directly into her account so she could purchase Take a Vow.
The trio could barely believe how easily Joe had handed over access to such a huge amount of cash.
For the first time in a long while, Joe Tate is no longer controlling the game.
Dawn is.

Is This The Beginning Of Joe Tate’s Downfall?
The latest episode strongly hints that Joe’s empire — and possibly his relationship with Dawn — is heading toward collapse.
What makes the storyline especially compelling is that Dawn isn’t acting impulsively. Every move is strategic, calm, and increasingly ruthless.
And with Moira helping orchestrate events behind the scenes, Joe may be walking straight into a trap he never sees coming.
The question now is no longer whether Dawn will betray Joe.
It’s how far she’s willing to go before she’s finished with him.
