Emmerdale star labels Dr Todd actress as ‘lovely’ amid menacing plot

Emmerdale star Michelle Hardwick gushed over co-star Caroline Harker as she plays the menacing Doctor Caitlin Todd.

Actress Caroline Harker made her Emmerdale debut as the menacing Dr Caitlin Todd earlier this year. Before her appearance in the Dales, Caroline is no stranger to the small screen.

She’s also had roles in A Touch of Frost, Holding On, Keeping Mum and Doctors. Eagle-eyed soap fans may also recognised her from a brief stint in Coronation Street.

Caroline played the role of Alicia Davenport who led the case for the defence at the trial of Frank Foster for the rape of Carla Connor heard at Weatherfield Crown Court back in 2012.

The actress made her return as a regular in Emmerdale earlier this year, and her storyline will focus on Dr Todd’s bullying of young trainee doctor, Jacob Sugden.

Reflecting on her return, she said: “I’m delighted to be back at Emmerdale for a longer stint playing Doctor Todd. She’s a complex character and from what I’ve been told so far, quite a tricky one for Jacob to navigate. Workplace bullying is commonplace, and it will be interesting to see it brought to our screens in a serial drama such as Emmerdale.”

Producer Laura Shaw added: “We are looking forward to seeing the machinations of someone like Caitlin Todd, and it’s not just at the hospital where she will start to make an impression.

“Caroline is a fabulous actor and brings such great experience to this role – we can’t wait for her to play out what we have planned for the character.”

Over recent episodes, Todd has been increasingly manipulative towards Jacob, flitting from being awkward and demeaning to supportive in the next breath.

While viewers have expressed that it can be an “uncomfortable” watch since she moved into the village in Vanessa Woodfield’s spare room to keep an eye on Jacob, her co-stars have praised the actress for how “lovely” she really is.

Taking to her Instagram, Michelle Hardwick praised her new co-star as she and Rebecca Sarker (Manpreet Sharma) posed alongside Caroline while filming in the Dales.

She gushed: “A little bts pic of us having a gorgeous day at work. Rebecca and I are so lucky to work with one of the loveliest people ever (which shows what an incredible actress Caroline Harker is)”.

Rebecca reposted the story while also sharing another snap of the new Emmerdale trio as their co-stars and fans also flooded the comments with love and support.
