How Far Will Days of Our Lives’ Kristen Go for Revenge? Even Stacy Haiduk’s Shocked By the Depths to Which She’ll Sink
We never thought seeing Kristen tie Xander to a bed and have her way with him on Days of Our Lives would be one of the least shocking things she’s done lately, but here we are! Kristen’s hopped into bed with Xander, she’s plotting to kill EJ, she wanted to kill Johnny and, to kick it all off, she murdered Sophia.
Kristen has been going down a dark, unhinged path, but we didn’t realize just how violent and out of control she was getting until Kristen bashed Sophia with that rock. In fact, neither did anyone involved in the story!
“I don’t even think I saw it coming,” Stacy Haiduk exclaimed as she jumped in to join Rachel Boyd and Shi Ne Nielson (Amy) for the Dishin’ Days podcast. “I was sad when I had to do this! I was like, ‘Are you kidding me? I’m gonna have to throw her off the [bridge]?!’”
The actors had “a ball” shooting those scenes (as you can see below!) but they aren’t what they expected or wanted for Sophia and Kristen.
“We just connected so much as people when we started working together,” Boyd explained, adding, “we wanted to establish a connection between the characters that wasn’t necessarily written in, so that it would add a layer to what she eventually does to Sophia. That’s what makes it so hard to watch, or so surprising, too, because you think that they have a bond.”
Kristen laid on the empathy, claiming she understood where Sophia was coming from, that she just had to do these few things (like murder Johnny and run off) to finally be happy and free. And Sophia was so desperate for love and understanding that, besides the fear of what Kristen would do if she said no, she wanted some kind of “love” and support!
“We actually thought that we were just going to come in cahoots,” Haiduk admitted to Dishin’ Days. “And then all of a sudden, that. I was like, ‘Wait.’”
“The writers wrote [the murder]!” she exclaimed with a laugh. Speaking as Kristen, “I came from absolute love, and also you have to understand, she screwed with my daughter. I love working with Rachel. The Sophia and Kristen characters, I just think they could have gone even further with it. I honestly think I could have taught her many, many things.”
But it wasn’t meant to be. And now, fans may end up looking back on that bridge killing as a huge turning point for Kristen. One, perhaps, where she went past the point of no return. Kristen hasn’t shied away from murder and violence in the past, but luring and killing Sophia like that was just shocking.
Even what she wanted Sophia to do to Johnny could be explained away as, “Well, I didn’t actually think she’d go through with it. I was just trying to set her up for jail as payback.” Instead, Kristen demanded her payback in blood.
And now, we’re left with the realization that there’s just about nothing (and no one) Kristen won’t do for revenge. Will she try killing EJ and Johnny for real? Will she go after Marlena? Brady? Heck, will she take on the doctor’s at Bayview? Unless Sophia’s “ghost” drives her to madness first — or Amy has her way!
When Nielson was asked how Sophia’s mom would react to the news, she just offered one, somewhat chilling warning: “I’m sure God will have his way with you, but not until I do.” From one mama bear to another, watch out!
