Who hit Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle as viewers say they’ll ‘never forgive’ soap
The Emmerdale legend has been in a lot of trouble over the last few months
Emmerdale fans have said they’ll “never forgive” the ITV soap if anything else happens to Cain Dingle after the suspect who hit him with a car was confirmed.
Over recent episodes, Cain was rocked when Moira revealed her murder charges are likely to be dropped, but she still faces complicity in modern slavery and also needs an MRI at the hospital.
He found himself unable to tell her about his upcoming surgery fearing that she won’t be able to handle anything else. However, after a sneaky phone call with Moira, Liam thought up with a plan and Cain secretly met with Moira in a hospital changing room, orchestrated by Liam.

Later, on the phone to Moira, he told her that he really does believe everything will be okay, but just as Moira is about to respond a car comes hurtling towards him, knocking him down.
The episode ended with Cain lay unconscious in the middle of the road, and a confused Moira on the other end of the phone. However, on Wednesday (April 8), it was finally revealed that Jacob Sugden had hit Cain.
Jacob has been struggling over the last few weeks with his work mentor Dr Todd who was purposefully making his work life difficult. Feeling incredibly stressed after he ignored a “do not resuscitate” order which led to Todd saying he won’t make it as a fully qualified doctor, Jacob left in his car.
Feeling angry, upset and tired, Jacob didn’t swerve in time as Cain stepped out onto the road while on the phone to Moira with hope for their future.
While at hospital, Cain was told that due to his injuries his prostate cancer surgery would have to be rescheduled which could cause the cancer to spread.
Cain attempted to make a deal with Jacob that if he could bring the surgery forward somehow, then he won’t inform the police that he knows Jacob hit him. With Dr Todd having already chastised him for breaking protocol, there’s no telling what Jacob will decide to do.
On X (formerly known as Twitter), viewers have expressed their concerns that Cain has been targeted with some scary storylines as of late. @lornawatts wrote: “I swear if they kill Cain I’ll never forgive the writers”.
@cathyg2903 added: “How many times to people have to get mown down by speeding cars in #emmerdale? It’s not safe to be a pedestrian there. And how much more are they going to put Cain through?”
